The design and development process of your website consists of several steps. From gathering the initial information to creating your website, a lot takes place before the big launch.

Workflow

Step 1

gather information

The first step in designing a website is to gather information.

Many things need to be considered when designing your website. Therefore, you will first be asked many questions to get a clear understanding of your business and the requirements regarding your internet presence. This is usually done during a face-to-face meeting.

Purpose
What is the purpose of the website? Do you want to provide information, promote a service, sell a product, set up eon portfolio?

Targets
What do you hope to accomplish by building this website? Two of the most common goals are either to make money or to share information.

Target group
Is there a specific group of people who will help you achieve your goals? It's helpful to imagine your ideal customer. Consider their age, gender, or interests - this will help you determine the best design style for your website.

Content
What kind of information will the target audience be looking for on your website? Are they looking for specific information, a specific product or service, etc.?

Step 2

Planning + Concept

From the information of the first phase, I first create a plan.

To do this, I develop a sitemap - a list of all the main topics and subtopics for your website. This gives us a guide as to what content will be included on the site and is vital to developing a consistent, easy to understand navigation system.

This is also the point where we decide what technologies to implement - contact forms, custom post types, specific plugins, etc.

Step 3

Visual design

Based on the information gathered up to this point, we determine the appearance.

The target audience is one of the key factors that are taken into account here. Elements such as your company logo or colors are also integrated into the design to strengthen your company's identity on the website.

Once the design is complete, you will get a preview of the preliminary design. This happens either with access to a test server, but at best already on the final server of a provider of your choice. From now on, you'll be able to follow your project throughout the design and development phases. Most importantly, you have the opportunity to express your likes and dislikes about the design.

At this stage, communication is crucial to ensure that the final website meets your requirements and tastes. In this way we work together and exchange ideas until we reach the final design for the website.

Step 4

Development

This is where the functional website itself is created.

We take all the individual graphic elements from the preliminary design and use them to create the functional website. Specifically, they are used to create the functional WordPress theme (template) that sets the look and feel of your website. This includes not only the desktop view, but also the mobile-focused views to ensure your website is accessible to the widest possible audience.

Once the WordPress theme files are developed, I also take your content and distribute it on the site in the appropriate areas.

Step 5

Test and delivery

At this point, I take care of the final details and put your website through its paces.

I test things like the full functionality of forms or other scripts, test last minute compatibility issues (showing differences between different web browsers), and make sure the site is optimized to display properly in the latest browser versions.

Once I have received your final approval, it is time to deliver the website. This marks the official launch of your website as it is now visible to the public.
